Teenage aboriginal boy carries dead log and picks up dried kangaroo dung in preparation for making fire. Breaks up log and places sticks in crack to wedge it open. Pushes dried grass into crack. Crumbles dried dung into grass. CU face as he works. Younger boy arrives with dried grass. He stands on log as older boy rubs metal bar (adze)on wood until smoke appears. (May 1965)

Teenage aboriginal boy sprinkles dried kangaroo dung onto smouldering log. Removes smouldering kangaroo dung and places into cup of fried grass. CU two boys' faces and flies. Older boy blows on grass until flames appear. Two boys build up fire with dried wood. (May 1965)
