Mr Pham seeks help from bilingual information officers to interpret forms from the Department of Immigration & Ethnic Affairs. Interpreter explains that Kiet needs 60 points to gain residency. They add up his points which only come to 55. VS of traffic and busy streets. Mr Pham and son Kiet sit at bus shelter and discuss their situation being materially no better than in Vietnam but that they have freedom in Australia. Kiet says he had heard that Australia was a racist country and Mr Pham says all countries are racist They discuss the painof leaving their homeland, being stateless and refugees and never seeing the grandparents again.
