Formal party. Bearded man in tailor's shop finds letter in jacket. It is an apology to miss a dance. Kitchen at house, butler tells cook to destroy cheese. Charlie Chaplain arrives at house, cook sits with him as he eats cheese holding his nose. Cook hides Chaplain in basket as butler comes in. Throws cheese out. Policeman arrives in kitchen, Chaplain into lift and policeman into basket.

Bearded man arrives in house pretending to be a count. Butler takes hat and coat, leads way to formal party. Chaplain looks through curtains, laughs at bearded man who says Chaplain can pretend to be his secretary. They enter room, introductions. Chaplain with pretty girl, sit at table. Bearded man slurps soup. Spaghetti, Chaplain has trouble eating it.
