WS pilot ship at Watson's Bay. VS action on ship as it prepares to go out to guide incoming boat through the Head - release buoy, handle turned on controls indicating Half Ahead, pistons moving, bows through water. Pilot in long overcoat and hat walks up to deck, lighting cigarette. VS ship with steam motoring ahead out to sea . Man looks out from signals station.

Pilot's ship heading out to sea through Heads to assist incoming boat. HAS from ship to bows. WS pilot's ship next to boat. Rowing boat lowered from pilot's ship with pilot dressed in overcoat and three crew. Pilot climbs rope ladder whilst rowing boat tied up below. Tugs alongside ship in Sydney Harbour. Siren sounded, men from tug wave at men on ship including harbour pilot dressed in hat and overcoat. Ropes thrown and attached , pilot blows whistle. CU ship's whistle blown, handle turned on controls indicating stop. Bows of ship POV tug ÒBustlerÓ, POV ship to tug. Pilot looks up as ship passes under Harbour Bridge. Ship under bridge.

VS busy port of Sydney wharves, Unloading of cargo including car, sacks in rope net, bags on pallet lifted. Grain poured from shutes into containers on ship, sacks lifted, Names of a ships Red Jacket, New York; River Mitta, Melbourne; Strathaird, London; Mongabarr, Goteborg; City of Brisbane; Glasgow; Merkur, Singapore.

Harbour pilot dressed in suit and hat, carrying overcoat leaves ship he has assisted into harbour, shakes hand of officer, walks off down steps, flag indicating that pilot is aboard is lowered. Pilot walks away along busy wharf.
