Broome, pearling luggers under sail with Malay, Aboriginal and Chinese crew. Crew preparing divers by helping them dress. Helmut is dunked in sea and then placed over diver's head. Compression handle and gauge and face glass tightened on helmut. Diver goes overboard. Crew prepare deck for shells and diver surfaces and boards lugger. Diver drinking coffee and smoking. Crew empty shell bags and clean shells. Supply boat takes shells and leaves rations for lugger crew. packing sheds at Broome. Large pile of pearl shells.
