Performance of melodrama "The Streets of London" as staged by Whitehall theatrical company in Sydney circa 1948-9. Scene shows man waking under lamppost on set portraying city street. He wonders aloud about how he'll find money. A beggar passes and sings a short song to get a penny from a rich man. The man's sister Lucy arrives and they exclaim their woes. New scene in stately home depicts wealthy father with large moustache plotting to control his future son-in-law by lending him money. Includes scheming monologue to camera.
